My DD is kind of PLing. My mom has her in pants with no diaper during the day and she's doing a great job telling us when she has to go. She's still in a diaper when we're out and about or if we're busy doing things around the house.
She still has accidents and her pants end up soaked. Is there a such thing as undies with just some absorbency? Not a lot, just enough to catch those first dribbles I guess, or maybe one pee? I don't necessarily want to do trainers, because they seem very similar to a diaper, and she really only tells us she has to go when she knows she's not wearing a diaper. Lightly padded undies maybe, with some extra cotton layers? Also, DD is pretty tiny, so they'd have to be small. Does something like this exist?

Re: Potty training undies?
yes... but they honestly don't hold much.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 I know they say 'training pants', but believe it, it's just a few layers of cotton that a child will pee right through. Unless it's seriously just the initial dribble. Not at all similar to a diaper and not what I'd call 'absorbant'. but I do like them because you can see instantly when they start as opposed to flimsy little panties.

In addition to using those with our newly pt'd dd (20mos) we use the plastic pull on covers for if we'll be somewhere like someone else's house or church. Somewhere that an "oops" on the carpet would be NOT acceptable. I try not to rely on them though, bc I don't want her getting use to them like a diaper. We also bought a piddle cover for the car seat. One that comes from the manufacturer and is approved for safety (aka - wont mess with the straps). My personal thought on the potty training is that the sooner you can go completely diaper free, the better. Once we chucked the diapers for good, dd caught on within the week. It was more ME getting trained that her. Lol. |

Mine use dribble drawers and brief style trainers I make . They easily hold a full accident. Www.mothergoosedesigns.com

We use Hanna Andersson training unders with a pair of leggings over top to prevent puddles. There are some iplay training pants on Amazon that look really similar for cheaper but I haven't tried them yet.

You may could try folding up a small washcloth or cloth wipe and putting in her panties.

Re: Potty training undies?
Yes the Gerber ones are what we used and also Hanna Andersson. The Gerber run small I think. DD was tiny when she PLed and the 18 month size was perfect.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I think we'll start with the Gerber ones since they're the least expensive AND they come in 18 month.
Has anyone found that some brands are any more absorbent than others?

Hanna Andersson. Awesome quality, padded where you need them, come in really small sizes.
