Starting to PT today. So confused.
DS will be 3 in April. He's been showing some signs of being ready.
He's not a cold turkey kind of kid so I'm using pull ups for like a week then will go to undies. I've been taking him every 30 minutes but I have no idea what to do. Lol. How long should he sit for? I made a potty chart and have m and ms for rewards.

Re: Starting to PT today. So confused.
I would keep him there are long as reasonable (probably not over 5 minutes) and encourage him to go. If he goes, I'd let him wait an hour next time. If not, another 30 minutes. I'd try to keep it low pressure or he may rebel.

Re: Starting to PT today. So confused.
It's going to take a lot longer if you keep the diapers/pullups around. If you want him to get it sooner, you've got to get rid of them. I recommend getting the book Oh Crap Potty Training to guide you through the process. It's at www.jamieglowacki.com. Seriously, $15 saved me from spending more $$ on diapers and trainers. We were at a stand still when DS2 was 18 months could actually use the potty. I was preggers and didn't know what to do, so I put him back in diapers. Just before his 2nd b-day I bought the book, started to train him, and now at 24 months, he's diaper free during the day and knows when he needs to go. Still needs to be prompted since he's busy playing, but it's so much better than having to wipe his bottoms of diaper poop! Oh, and we haven't used any charts or food rewards and he's doing just fine without them.
