Elderberry syrup safe during pregnancy?

I prefer homeopath over OTC drugs, and was hoping I could get a better answer than its not recommended bc lack of testing.

I'm now over due and was thinking since its this late in the game there shouldn't be any risks but I'm usually cautious abt taking anything so that's why I thought I'd ask. I also had asked my Dr. early on in pregnancy and he said he didn't recommend it.



Also if a homeopath is safe for infants shouldn't it be safe for preggo moms or breastfeeding ones???

You're always going to get the "not recommended because of lack of testing" answer officially.

I personally have taken it during my pregnancy, not daily but occasionally when I feel like I might be getting sick or someone in my household is ill. No one has ever given me any contra-indications, and otherwise why should it be different than any other berry in that regard, kwim?

What homeopathic remedies are you thinking of specifically? I pretty much always assume homeopathic remedies are safe for everyone since there is basically nothing in them with all the dilution. (and yet somehow they work. I wouldn't believe it if i hadn't seen it with my own eyes...but that's another thread)

I'm taking it now, i got hammered with cold after cold this year and i was like thats it!
I really like the infant immune tincture from mountainmeadowherbs.com it is recommended for pg and infants
I have made it myself many times but was just to exhausted with this pregnancy to get going on it,
i would say its much safer than many other things they DO rec for pg women! lol

I generally use elderberry a lot for the entire family. Especially this year with the flu epidemic. I make my own syrup because its much cheaper than buying it already made. My midwife highly recommends it.
