Re: what's your favorite first grade curriculum?

I am currently enjoying Christian Light Education (CLE) for Math, Learning to Read and Language Arts. I am also using Time4Learning as a supplement. I love the ease of teaching with CLE and my boys like that they need little guidance from me other than to explain new concepts to them.

Re: what's your favorite first grade curriculum?

We use Rod and Staff for phonics, Math-U-See for math, and living books for history. That is our only formal stuff for 1st grade.

Re: what's your favorite first grade curriculum?

This is our first grade year and all of our curric has been a hit. We are using FLL, WWE, AAS, SM, SOTW, and RSO.

Lemme know if you need help with those acronyms.

Re: what's your favorite first grade curriculum?

My first grade plan:

Reading: finishing OPGTR in August or September, plus ETC
Math: Saxon 1
Grammar: FLL 1
Writing: WWE 1
History: SOTW
Science: Maybe RSO, but I might just follow dd's interests using Let's-Read-and-Find-Out books. They're written well (informative and fun) and they all have an experiment or other activity t go with the topic. Super easy.
Geography: mom-made study
Art: Artistic Pursuits

Thank you mama! We used Heart of Dakota this year for K. I am looking for something different for 1st.. I NEVER thought I would want to pull my own curriculum together, but I am feeling this may be the best choice for us in the coming year.

We use My Father's World and are really loving it.

5 responses and 5 different curriculum choices.

I'll add another! We're loving 1st grade Hooked on Phonics. Last week DS had to read and follow the instructions to make a paper car. He LOVED it! Art, science, history are through Classical Conversations. More than likely we'll stick with Singapore math and maybe supplement with something else if I feel the need.
