Re: bamboo vs hemp???
I haven't used much bamboo but I can answer some of this. I think absorbency goes to hemp though that may be debatable, it also seems more trim. Bamboo is softer and is more likely to stain. I am a hemp fan - though i didn't have a heavy wetter so we used alot of cotton too.

Re: bamboo vs hemp???
hemp is not as soft as bamboo, i find both to be incredibly absorbent, for me bamboo washes clean easier as far as smell but on the other hand stains so much worse than hemp. I have bamboo flats and trifolds and they are ridiculously trim compared to any hemp inserts or doublers i have. All in all i prefer bamboo.

Re: bamboo vs hemp???
Hemp is more absorbent in my experience, and bamboo is generally a bit softer.
Hemp fleece (like Babykicks prefolds) is gets rough and stiff, it's also very dense and I had some trouble with it retaining odors. Hemp jersey (like Thirsties hemp prefolds) stays quite soft and has never gotten stinky for me. I've never had much trouble with either staining. In my experience, hemp is trimmer and more durable. A lot depends on the type (umm, weave?) of fabric though. Bamboo velour wears quickly for us, but our bamboo prefolds seem to be wearing well. Hemp fleece only worked as pocket stuffers after a month or so because it got so rough/stiff, but hemp jersey stays really nice. HTH! |
