Help, pinworms

Hi, so I am 12 weeks and I think I have pinworms. What should I do? Anyone have experience with this? Can I take anything? Will it affect the baby?
Please help.

I know there is an easy otc counter meds for it but not sure about during prego. would ask ob. I think they can also go away if you bath and wash bedding, clothing daily as you will be washing away eggs. did you actually see them or someone else in family has? usually if one has you treat the whole family.

Re: Help, pinworms

yeah, they're so easy to spread that the whole family has to be treated. Wash underwear, sheets and towels (as well as diapers if someone is a diaper wearer in your household) on hot, daily. I'd even throw in some bleach if possible.

I hesitate to say that any meds, OTC or prescription, used to treat this condition would be safe during pregnancy. You need to call your OB asap to ask about that. But start washing immediately.

Daily bathing is important too, with the goal of washing away eggs. But don't reuse the same rag or wash cloth - I'd give everyone a separate wash cloth and then I'd wash each one before the next bath. Same for towels.

My son had these things last year and it was such a pain! Don't feel embarrassed about calling your OB - pinworms are extremely common and very contagious.
