What do you say when weaned LOs ask to nurse?

Tonight, DD (almost 3) asked to drink milk from my "na-nas." She has been weaned for seven months, so obviously there's nothing there. I think she understands that her little sister will get to nurse after she's born. How should I talk to her about it? I don't want to push the "you're a big girl" concept too hard, since I've seen that backfire into the child wanting to be a baby even more.

Re: What do you say when weaned LOs ask to nurse?

Some moms would let their weaned child try to nurse -- more times than not, they don't even remember how to latch or nurse, and nothing comes of it. *Most* of the time, lol, though I have heard of a case or two where it ignites the nursing all over again.

Sometimes the "forbidden fruit" part of it (saying no or trying to get the child to NOT want to try) makes it into a bigger issue.

It's hard to know what to do!

Re: What do you say when weaned LOs ask to nurse?

my two year old asked to nurse one day, she's been weaned for awhile but sees me nurse the baby. I held her across my lap as if to nurse, and she just kinda pretended to, sort of kissing my nipples? it was odd she did it once or twice and hasn't since.

DH thought it was super weird
