Question What am I doing wrong?

Okay, so I accidently ordered some premium prefolds for my 6.5 wk old, needless to say, they are WAY too big for him. So, I found a whole bunch of infant prefolds from here, and wouldn't you know, they seem too small! What do I do? Am I folding wrong? The problem seems to be width, the length is perfect. If I am using a cover, do the sides of the PF need to touch? Help!

No they do not need to touch. Let me see if I can find a pic that would be helpful.

nope, both sides that are coming around from behind do not need to touch. They only have to go over the front flap that is over his belly to work. Once snappi'd they should work great!

I was having the same problem as you until I checked out the pinned thread about folding a pf. If you are doing the angel wing fold, after you initially fold the front into thirds to get the gussets and pull it up between the legs, you can spread out the front so that the sides meet. I hope that makes sense. Look at the post with the tie-dyed pf demonstrating the fold. That was the one that really helped me the most. hth

Like this? Is he borderline too big for this size? The back barley comes around to the front at all!

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Yeah definitely too small. I would size up or just lay them in a cover.

I wouldn't say they are too small (not trying to start a debate). I think they look just fine.

That is how the preemies fit on Nikolas at 11.5 lbs. I just love how trim they are and with an extra trifolded preemie inside they are absorbant enough.

I would get the trimmed premiums at Greenmountaindiapers. They are shorter than the premiums but still have the width.

WOW your 6.5 week old is a chubbers!! He is so cute! I love little rolls

You won't be able to snappi them on him much longer but I bet they would be perfect tri-folded in a cover (like bummis). Trimmed premium prefolds would probably be great on him too.
