Fenugreek & others and weight gain

Okay I have a few questions here

I read somewhere that Fenugreek is used in parts of Africa by women to gain weight. Is this true? I'm taking some now due to major low milk supply and I guess I've noticed I'm much more hungry and I'm hoping that gaining extra weight isn't true. I gained 55 lbs in pregnancy and when I found out I was pg, I had just joined WW wanting to lose 45+ lbs. AGH!!!

Also, what about the other meds/herbs to increase milk supply. Do these have the side effect of gaining weight?

I just found out about Motherslove More Milk tincure and purchased some last night. How do you use it? Alone, with food, in liquids such as water, tea, etc.

Does Motherslove More Milk have weight gain or other 'negative' side effects?

Re: Fenugreek & others and weight gain

I don't think I noticed that it effected my appetite when I was taking it, but I did read once that it is used to increase appetite. I was under the impression that it is very important to take Blessed Thistle in conjunction with Fenugreek. I found that taking them both (capsule form) really increased my supply.

I used the Mother's Milk Two tincture to try and maintain/increase supply while I was pregnant and breastfeeding. It didn't successfully work for me.

I find the capsules of Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle to be much more user friendly than the tinctures or tea. Popping the pills three times a day is much easier and quicker than having to add the tincture to whatever you're drinking three times a day. The tea is a nice, enjoyable, and useful thing to have to drink on the side if you are primarily using the tincture or pills, but using the tea as your supplement requires something like drinking six cups a day which is quite burdensome.

It's raining!!! It hasn't rained in weeks. How exciting.

I never heard that about Fenugreek...interesting though. I didn't notice any changes in my appetite when I used it, but I only ever took it for a few days at a time and I wasn't really "watching" my weight at the time. I have heard that you can do Weight Watchers while you're breastfeeding...they allow you some extra points every day or something.
