Is this true?

My friend just had her baby at the hospital today. I cute little baby girl. She told me one of the nurses told her that the labor gets easier (this is her third) but the recovery just gets worse with each one. Is this really true? What is your experience. I'm planning on having a homebirth..and I'm hoping my recovery will be a lot better than my epidural/induced labor.

Labor, delivery and recovery were easier for me the second time. It might all just depend on the person.

Re: Is this true?

My 4th was by far the easiest. I had planned a homebirth but had a UC. I was able to clean the bathroom before my midwife arrived, while baby was still attached Sine DH was deployed I was up the next morning making breakfast and mopping the floors.

If you have had a induction/epi this recovery will most likely be much easier.

My labors and recovery became much easier with each child. I barely had any afterpains with my fourth. I was up and walking around in less than 30 minutes after my last child was born.

Re: Is this true?

My first I was in labor 36 hours. I was in the hospital on an IV for about 18 of it. I was ready to walk and go and leave ASAP. I hated having to be confined to wheelchair.

My second I had prodomal labor for days. My labor was shorter but was had some complications. I lost more blood than with my first. And nearly fainted. I couldn't leave bed unassisted for a few days. Luckily I was home and under the care of midwives. It was a longer recovery and I had two kidlets to care for one of which was an active toddler. So it made it hard.

Thankfully this one is due in July. Daddy will be off work (love that perk of education) and can take the boys and do boy things. Plus his brother & nephews will be visiting (staying at my BIL's) so they will be off on adventures. I will be cuddled in bed with my baby.

I didn't have that at all! My third was by far the easiest birth (and I went natural that time!) and I had completed a mini scrapbook for her by the 2nd day. I felt great!

Labor was easier with each and recovery stayed the same. All my children were natural births. What I did notice (as pp said) is that the cramping involved with the uterus going back to normal seemed more intense. Especially if breastfeeding.

Re: Is this true?

My 2nd birth (all natural) recovery was FAR easier than recovering from my 1st birth (artificially breaking of water, pitocin administered, epidural). After my 1st birth, I seriously only got out of bed to pee and shower for the 1st 2 weeks. I felt like I had been hit by a truck. After my 2nd birth, I was out of the hospital 16 hrs later and felt absolutely fabulous!
