Smoothie recipe

I want to start making some fresh fruit smoothies. I bought lots of fruit (some fresh, some frozen) and have some that I froze when they were in season. Does anyone have any good recipes for smoothies?

Any that contain veggies would be great too!

I eyeball too, but I've had success with carrots, broccoli, and cabbage in fruit smoothies. (!) I typically go heavy on strawberries since they're so low calorie. I also like frozen blueberries and frozen banana to make the texture thick. (You could also add frozen milk or yogurt cubes.) When my mom makes smoothies in her vitamix, she adds flax seed, but most blenders can't make the seeds into powder -- but you could add powder. Good fiber and omega whichever-it-is as long as the powder is relatively fresh. And if your fruits aren't sweet, I would add some OJ or apple juice or jam.

Re: Smoothie recipe

I like to make this one--

1 banana
6 strawberries
1 cup spinach
1 cup vanilla yogurt
milk (add till it's the consistency you like)
and honey to sweeten

Yummy and a great way to sneak in some veggies.

I eyeball it too, like the pp said. I like to buy the bags of organic frozen fruit from Trader Joes (i'll be buying fresh and freezing when the farmers market opens again) and ask my son what he wants... then I add a banana, plain yogurt, & fruit juice. He gets a smoothie every day & loves it. I gotta try the spinach!

Re: Smoothie recipe

Another eyeballer ... I often by a bag of mixed berries ... throw in some OJ, apple juice, yogurt ... whatever is on hand. Experimenting is half the fun!
