My DD is almost 3 and we went in for her 3 yr well visit today....

SHE FLIPPED OUT! I had never seen her scream so loud or kick and fight so hard! Is this normal for a 3 yr old? We are almost never at the doctor, shes a very healthy child, its been almost a year since weve been there, could that have something to do with it?

could be anxiety. she could be scared since she has not been there for a while. maybe it would be a good idea to start talking about the doctor with her and make it fun and exciting. Let her know the doctor is an OK person. God forbid anything ever happen to your child but if it does..I am thinking you would want her ok with the doctors, nurses and the people that would need to help her. good luck!

If I could kick and scream I would too.

I hate going there.

My three year old does that too. All the talk in the world doesn't help!! He is even use to going there and the doctor! My youngest son has spina bifida, so we go to the doc a lot!! He just has a fear of going there for himself! Thankfully we almost never go there for him!

My 2 1/2 yr old dd does it too. She never used to...and we go to the dr. and specialist dr. ALOT. Then, at her 2 year old checkup she totally freaked out at the dr and looked at him like he was going to kill her. She just kept saying "mommy, mommy". I felt so bad when I had to physically stand behind the dr. so dd couldn't see me while he weighed her. She wouldn't stay on the scale until I did that. The dr. didn't seem phased by it. I think she is just very attached now and gets high seperation anxiety. It also doesn't matter how much we talk about the dr either. She even says he's nice and then it's a different story when we go in????

That's odd

I reallt thought my dd was the only one who did that. We went for her 3 year well visit last year and she did the same thing, totally flipped out. Screaming, throwing herself down, everything. I had to restrain her just so he could look in her ears (I thought ear infection, I was right). Oodly though, never had an issue since. Madison is generally healthy and does not go often so I thought that was the problem. About 2 months afterward she had a dental exam and flipped out there as well. I think it's an age thing as she has not had a problem since at either places.

thanks mamas! I dont feel so aweful now....I guess its just an age thing and it will pass.
