Choc. covered peanut butter balls recipe??

Ok, in my move last year all of my cookbooks and recipe cards were packed and stored in our barn. It is absolutely frigid here so i don't want to go dig through to find this recipe. The recipe i'm looking for is either called chocolate covered peanut butter balls or peanut butter buckeyes... does anyone have the recipe? I have found a few recipes online, but they call for so much butter, i don't remember using that much. Any help here?

Here's my buckeye recipe:
2 c. peanut butter
3/4 c. butter (yep, a stick and a half!)
4 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
3 c. crispy rice cereal

some sort of chocolate to coat, either chocolate chips, melted with shortening, or, I use almond bark.

This is mine . . . for OHIO Buckeyes!

PB inner/ball:
1 1/2c PB
1/2 c butter
1 tspn van.
4 c. confect. sugar

then for the coating:
2 1/2 cups chocolate (I like dark, but most use semi-sweet or milk)
2 Tbspn. shortening

I usually add some paraffin also so the shell is nice and hardened.

Thank you Bridget! I've been wanting to make these for yrs.I remember these fondly when a family I used to nanny for made these for the Holiday's yrs ago.
I never forgot them--they're soo divine.
Her recipe didn't have the rice crispy cereal in it either.
This has made my day--I've wanted an authentic recipe for yrs.

This is the recipe i use. I have a whole bunch in the fridge right now

I want to try these... Have never had anything like this and DH has a peanut butter love...DO you cook them or what do you do with them?

You melt the butter and add to it the vanilla and PB. Mix until smooth - then add your confect. sugar. This thread made me want some so I made some today, but the 4c of confect sugar seemed too much to me today. So, maybe use a little less? Mix that all together - it will be kinda lumpy and you'll think you messed up. Just pick up small amounts to knead in your hand to form balls. Roll all the "dough" into balls and refrigerate.
Melt the chocolate and shortening - make sure you don't add too much shortening - I did today and the coating isn't as good as usual! Then using a toothpick dip the PB balls into the chocolate and refrigerate again until hardened. SO YUMMY! and NO BAKING!

oh YUM! i just may have to make them for my neighborhood goodie plates. i DESPISE using shortening as an ingredient... any subs for it?

well, i have always used paraffin wax, believe it or not lol
