Question Favorite Bread Machine Recipes?

I got a bread machine and 2 recipe books, but so far, I'm not liking what I'm making. Sooooo... do you have any tried-and-true bread machine recipes that are sure to make everyone drool?

I make a rye bread that is fantastic. I used the recipe my Oster bread machine came with and add extra caraway seeds! LMK if you want the recipe.

Re: Favorite Bread Machine Recipes?

Laura -I'm making your rye bread recipe right now! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

KKDJLJA - I'll PM you for your banana bread recipe! I have some bananas that are getting pretty ripe so it could be perfect timing!

Keep 'em coming! Today I made an Oatmeal Bread with raisins that was pretty good. And I'm making Laura's rye bread right now. But I love experimenting so I'd love to see what else you ladies have to share! Especially if you have anything that uses milk/sour milk since I have some sour raw milk in the fridge right now that I'd love to use up.

Re: Favorite Bread Machine Recipes?

Well, I'll share my favorite one I've made so far. This is from Betty Crocker's Best Bread Machine Cookbook.

Oatmeal Bread
1.5 pound recipe (12 slices) / 2 pound recipe (16 slices)
1.25 cups water / 1.25 cups + 2 Tbsp water
2 Tbsp softened butter or margarine / 2 Tbsp softened butter or margarine
3 cups Bread Flour / 4 cups Bread Flour
0.5 cup old fashioned or quick-cooking oats / 2/3 cup old fashioned or quick-cooking oats
3 Tbsp packed brown sugar / .25 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp dry milk / 2 Tbsp dry milk
1.25 tsp salt / 1.5 tsp salt
2 tsp Bread Machine or quick active dry yeast / 2 tsp Bread Machine or quick active dry yeast

Measure carefully, placing all ingredients in bread machine pan in the order recommended by manufacturer.

Select Sweet or Basic/White cycle. Use Light crust color. Remove baked bread from pan and cool on wire rack.

**Optional: add 0.5 cup (1.5 lb loaf)/ 2/3 cup (2 lb loaf) raisins at the raisin/nut signal or 5 to 10 minutes before the last kneading cycle ends.

1 slice: 185 calories (25 calories from fat); 3g fat (1g saturated); 0mg cholesterol; 270mg sodium; 37g carbohydrate (2g dietary fiber); 5g protein

************************************************** *****
Now I add the raisins and today I tried subbing organic sugar w/unsulphured molasses for the brown sugar. YUMMY!!! Great as toast and I bet it would make a fantastic French toast, too!
