Basic Poop Question

okay, this is probably a dumb question, but: How do you know when to start scraping/showering/dunking before you wash?

my wife still BFs our 5 month old, but now that she's back at work and pumping doesn't work for her, he gets alot of formula. His insatiable hunger has also led us to start him on solids.

The fomula/solids (thus far) haven't changed his poop significantly - it's like a thick paste (slightly thicker than when he was EBF). When do i start scraping, etc? Will i just *know*?

I just started using a diaper sprayer on dd's diapers. I started because she self feeds small pieces of food (diced fruits, veggies, etc) and they don't always get chewed before being swallowed. This led to veggies bits in her diapers. After picking pieces of undigested (but washed) veggies out of my washing machine, I decided to start spraying. hth!

I started spraying when the poop turned into a peanut butter consistency. It occured at 6 months when we started cereal. My philosophy is better to spray than not.
