Replacing elastic...

How long should I cut the elastic for the legs on BGOS? I have about 3 diapers that I need to replace the elastic in. I have all the seams ripped out but wondering how long to cut the new stuff because the old stuff is so stretched I can't tell.

I think a good rule of thumb is about half the length of the distance from where it starts to where it ends. I may go a little more than half though myslef

I've read between 4 inches and 4 1/2 inches in different places. (If you haven't already done them )

I did the little more than 1/2 and it was about 4 inches. That size worked great and are on my sleeping little boy right now. I got a nice snug fit and shouldn't get red marks.

Re: Replacing elastic...

I never cut my elastic until it's in the diaper. It's much easier to sew holding onto the long end. First I feed it through, then tighten up the diaper, then stitch over the top, THEN cut.
