Anyone have experience with HEEL SPURS? Help!
So much for silly dance hour with my kids....We were having a jumping contest a few months ago and I ended up with horrible heel spurs. One foot alone has 5 areas that are EXTREMELY painful. I got a cortisone shot in both feet (oh my gosh that was almost worse than the actual pain). Anyhow, my feet were almost 100 percent better (got the shots almost 2 weeks ago) but today I noticed after walking a lot for Black Friday, I notice they are starting to hurt again and I am worried that it is coming back? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks

Re: Anyone have experience with HEEL SPURS? Help!
I've been in physical therapy for 9months due to heel spurs, plantar fasciitis & tight calf muscles(they're all interconnected). I have custom orthotics & wear heel gel cups on top of the orthotics to provide more cushioning & raise my heel so it pulls less. Monday the orthotics are being modified so I can take the get cups out. In physio I do specific exercises, he manipulates the foot/heel depending where that days pain is, I've done acupuncture, electronic shocks(mild, lol), heat & cold therapy.
cortizone shots are a temporary solution.

Re: Anyone have experience with HEEL SPURS? Help!
The bottom of my heel is doing much better at almost 3 weeks post cortisone shot, but the back of my heel is miserable... My foot dr. said it was most likely tendonitis from not walking properly because of the plantar pain. Try some ibuprofin maybe? It would help w/ any swelling that's in there. Wear the foot brace at night if you have one, and use ice. Those are what have been helping me the most.

Re: Anyone have experience with HEEL SPURS? Help!
You need to do some stretching exercises and make sure you are wearing shoes with support and some kind of cushioning insole.
Cortisone doesn’t cure heel spurs, it just makes them feel better. Heel spurs are calcification of the tendons/ligaments. That’s why stretching is important. I have a variety of inserts for all shoes. Now they only bother me if I am on my feet all day.

Re: Anyone have experience with HEEL SPURS? Help!
New Balance shoes! Hubby had heel spurs really bad when I was pregnant with the twins in 2001, (in fact he was at the foot doctor while I was at my OB when she sent me to the hospital the second time). Anyway, he did cortisone shots and cortisone pills for a while but what really helped was the shoes.
He recently started a job where he is on his feet all day, and his heel spurs are acting up again. When he wears the NB shoes that are falling apart at the seams, literally, his feet are a lot better. He was telling me recently about some information he had read about heel spurs and they can come back at any time. They are also aggravated if your are overweight. |
