Re: well child doctor visit ...
No. I don't need a doctor to tell me that my child is growing and thriving. I have a BSN and have had 3 kids. I know when something is not right and when it is. Even when they're ill, the first place we go is to the Natriopath. I think Doctor's try to pigeon hole children and if they don't fit in to the, so called, "norm" then they want to label them. For instance, I have small children. I'm small and DH is "below average" in height. The doctor wants to make a big issue out of it when, developmentally, my kids are above norm. If they weren't thriving, growing, learning and developing I'd first take them to the Natriopath and then, if needed (and it rarely ever is), I'd take them to the Pediatrician.
However, my kids to occassionally go for check-ups, mainly, for their eyes. They go to the Ped when they're little and by 5 they go to the eye doc. Or when I observed that DD#2 had a great increase in urinating and drinking I took her to get tested for Type 1 Diabetis. It came back normal. Doctor's have their place, but the medical profession, in my opinion, is sorely lacking in many areas. Far to often, I think, they push antibiotics and other drugs as a solution to everything. The drug companies are getting rich while our nation is being poisoned. For far to long doctor's have been looked at as the be all, end all and I don't think they are. DD#1 was diagnosed with Drusen. http://www.revoptom.com/HANDBOOK/SECT50a.HTM http://www.agingeye.com/diseases/oth...n.php?VI=FALSE The specialist at the Cleveland Clinic told me that there is no treatment and DD has a 33% chance of going blind. He said we'd have to wait and see. At the first visit, she already had field of vision loss. So, I took her to the Natriopath. After treatment, she has no more vision loss. We're praying that with continued treatment the Drusen with disappear.

Re: well child doctor visit ...
Yeah, I take my girls in for their well child visits. I don't always "listen" to the ped, but I take them in just in case they can catch something that maybe I missed. I don't know how to compare them developmentallly to what they are "supposed" to be and I'd like to catch anything that could be way off kwim?? Anyways, my daughters are both very healthy and very normal. If it werent for well-baby appts though, I would have never discovered that DD has a severe and almost completely closed labial adhesion until she was completely closed and severely affected by it. I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with skipping appts...my mom never took us, but I am not comfortable with it.

Re: well child doctor visit ...
I do, just because i like to see how they have grown but that is it. Im a nerd, i like the little printouts they give me with their weight/height on it so i can put it in their scrapbook

Re: well child doctor visit ...
Yes we do. DD hasn't had any vaxes but we are still taking her anyway. I like my kids Dr. She is absolutely fine with selective/delaying/or not vaccinating at all.
I am taking my DD mostly b/c of some developmental concerns but I would go anyway I think. She is a great Dr who breastfeeds her kids, co-sleeps, (encouraged co-sleeping in the hospital after the babies were born even), I could go on...but my point is she really meshes with us and we like her.
