Baby shower gift idea?

I'm totally broke. But I have over 100 gallons of fabric... (I have a problem ) I want to make something for a distant cousin's baby shower this weekend. They're having a boy, and they don't CD. I suppose I could make some burp cloths or a blanket, but I'd like to try something a little more fun. Any suggestions?

I've kind of been thinking it would be fun to make a toy monster, but I have no clue where to start with that.

I have no idea how to sew up a monster, but you could go with one of those fabric diaper cases for the diaper bag. http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/dipecase.html

Or a diaper clutch made from a placemat. http://junkmailgemsblog.blogspot.com...er-clutch.html

Or a fabric travel chair for eating out or visiting. http://thismamamakesstuff.com/2009/1...el-high-chair/

Or, my favorite as it uses up some of those little scraps, cloth baby footies. http://www.newconceptions.com/patpdf/Footiespdf.pdf

Good luck!

Those are some really cute ideas! None of my friends or family like homemade stuff so Im just making 'laundry' baskets for the baby showers I get invited to since alot of ppl dont think about buying that stuff til its to late. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

swaddle blankets are the best! Store bought ones are too small and we were given a few large ones for our shower and they were our most used gift!

I found this tut for a toy taggie monster. It looks soooo cute! http://craftschmaft.com/2008/12/10/tag-monster-pattern/

And this I think I can do freehand:

If you have any light muslin, linen or wovens I would make some large swaddle blankets like the aidan and anais ones. I absolutely loved them in the summer.
