Gymnastics Question for Those with Experience

My son had only done 1 session in a recreational setting. There was an open try out for placement that we attended and he did well enough that they want him on the team. He is doing Level 4 which is at the bottom and I think really the only level a 6 year old can be on. You could probably ask your local gymnastics company if they do try outs for placement, but you may have to do at least one session.
