Re: How long do you wait to tell?

With DD, we told our close family and friends at 6-7 weeks. We had planned to wait longer, but we just couldn't! I would guess we told the "whole world" we were expecting when I began showing around 4 months.

When we became pregnant again last fall, we told our close family at about 6 wks again. Unfortunately, we miscarried @ 11wks, but I'm glad we shared our the news of our pregnancy, because it meant that we had support from the people closest to us, during and after our loss. The miscarriage was very difficult for us, and I don't think I could've concealed my pain from those who were close to us. I've always heard that you shouldn't tell anyone you are pregnant until the threat of miscarriage has largely passed at 12 wks, but after my experience, I don't feel that is very good advice, because then you are left alone to cope with the loss.

Re: How long do you wait to tell?

With my first 2 pregnancies (both ended in m/c), we told immediate family and close friends right away but kept it quiet otherwise. With ds, I was really paranoid about m/c. We told immediate family at 12 wks and waited until it was obvious to others (20-22 wks).

Re: How long do you wait to tell?

With our first pregnancy we told my MIL, but MCed before we could tell anyone else, like around 4 weeks. With the 2nd pregnancy we told ALL the family at around 6 weeks, but MCed again. Then with our 3rd pregnancy we told my MIL right away, but waited until 11ish weeks to share the news with anyone else and we MCed AGAIN before 12 weeks. SO with this current pregnancy we again told my MIL (we are VERY close) soon after we got the BFP, but waited until about 16 weeks before sharing the news with others. We are now almost 33 weeks and are still telling friends who live far away and had not heard.

Re: How long do you wait to tell?

Well with our triplets we knew from the earliest week possible that we were pg. We did IVF so you find out way before most pregnancies. My mother was in the room with me when I was told that I had a BFP blood test and it was likely more than one The rest of the family found out within the first 4 wks or so. Thankfully all went well. Next time I think I might keep it to ourselves for a bit. Most of them dont even know we are ttc right now.
