Stinky Kitchen Towels

Can anyone recommend a way to strip kitchen towels? We have a fl and sometimes dry in the dryer and sometimes use the line. They come out smelling clean but the minute you go to dry something and they get wet they stink like a wet dog We don't use papertowels so these get used a lot and for everything in the kitchen.
