Re: Does pee start to smell different?
If he's starting to hold it for a while before peeing, I wouldn't be worried. My bratling has uber stink if he's been trying to hold.
Could also be a sign of dehydration, which makes some sense considering it's getting warmer. If it continues smelling bad and he's going frequently and drinking a decent amount of water, I'd call and ask about it, but I don't think it's something to be massively worried about unless it's also a weird color. I could be completely wrong though, I'm not as much a worrier as most moms are and could be missing something important here

Re: Does pee start to smell different?
Is he still peeing the same amount? If so, I wouldn't worry. But sometimes a smell can come from a concentration in his urine, which means he could be holding it in too long, have a UTI, or is dehydrated. If you think he is peeing less than normal, it's worth a call in to the ped!

Re: Does pee start to smell different?
Hrmm... I dunno, does your insurance or dr's office have a nurse line you can call and see what they recommend doing?
Symptoms of UTI in kiddos (any or all): Smell in urine Vomiting Fever Irritability Also pain while urinating, and leaking/accidents, which I don't know if your little one could let you know about. Dehydration I'm just linking http://pediatrics.about.com/od/sympt...mp_dehydtn.htm though it doesn't fit if he's still about the same in urine output and liquid intake and hasn't been ill lately. You'd notice one of those, theoretically, by the time it started smelling funky. |

Re: Does pee start to smell different?
Never heard of it, but who knows? But yeah, adding in teething kids and everything starts getting weird when it comes to figuring out problems. Hopefully they'll be able to give an easy idea or definite recommendation.
Hope they get back with you in a decent amount of time. I know I've sat on hold with my nurse line for 2 1/2 hours before to be told that I had an ear infection (uh, duh, I knew that, had an appointment the next day, just needed pain relief ideas since I sure wasn't sleeping anyway!). Wish mine had a call back option. In either case, g'luck with figuring it out, I'm out of other ideas.

Re: Does pee start to smell different?
And ditto on the probable UTI. At the least those are (relatively) easy to deal with, even if they're sucky while they last.
