Questions for DFW moms!

We just moved to Roanoke/Ft. Worth. I'm looking for a bunch of different things!

First, where do you all go for local CDing stuff?

Where's a good hospital?

Where are good fun places to go with 5 kids?

Any playgroups?

Thanks in advance! I'm really looking forward to being here!

Re: Questions for DFW moms!

There is a store here based out of someone's house in Farmers Branch. It's called Babies Bottoms and More. I have bought there and love it. She has carriers, diapers, covers, all the things you need for cloth diapering.

Re: Questions for DFW moms!

Hi there! Welcome to the area. I'm about to have five kids too - the new baby will be here sometime in the next week! We are struggling with cheap ideas to keep the kids busy right now, so far we're visiting the library alot and the discount movie theater.
I have a cloth diapering store in Cedar Hill, the link is in my sig. It's probably about 35-40 minutes from you, depending on traffic. I've had some other moms come in from the Roanoke area.
As for hospitals, I know that Texas Health Harris Methodist HEB is highly recommended for OB, and they have a GREAT breastfeeding support clinic. I've gone to the BF clinic there with my last two kids, even though they were born at Baylor in Dallas.

Re: Questions for DFW moms!

Hi. Welcome to the area. I'm Michelle, I'm in Arlington.. smack dab in the middle between Dallas and Fort Worth.

There is a local CD store run by a couple out of their home, called Froggy's Cloth Diapers. They will meet you locally to save you shipping costs. http://froggysclothdiapers.com/

For fun stuff, I dunno, we're usually too broke to do much, lol..but there is the Dallas Zoo and the Fort Worth Zoo, and I believe the Fort Worth Zoo is half price on Wednesdays. There are the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth, that's free....

There are quite a few moms on the DFW Mamas page too. We frequently do playdates.. usually once a month but some of the moms meet up more frequently.

And I have 3 little boys, 5, 2 1/2 and 4 months.

God bless!

Re: Questions for DFW moms!

I just delivered my 2VBAC at Harris Ft Worth (downtown) using the UNT Midwives group and it was a wonderful experience. Very respectful of my wishes and very baby/breastfeeding friendly. If you ever need ER or specialists for your kids, Cooks Childrens Hospital is really great. My oldest had surgery there at age 2 and they were really great with him. I've had to take him there for the ER too and they were very good. I really like this blog for activity ideas:

Re: Questions for DFW moms!

Hi there - I'm just south of you in Keller!!!

As far as the hospital - your kinda in-between Fort Worth and Denton (and in traffic, it's easier to get to Denton than it is to Fort Worth - just head north on 377 - beats trying to get down 35 to Fort Worth in rush hour traffic).

Harris in downtown Fort Worth is a good hospital.
For kids - Cooks Childrens in Fort Worth.
In Denton, there is Denton Presbyterian Hospital.

I know Roanoke is suppose to have a good summer program through their parks and recs (if I remember correctly). I have recieved the fliers about it here - I recently threw them away though. If you come south a little bit into Keller - there is Keller Pointe that offers a wide variety of activites (including indoor and outdoor swimming pools) and a number of different parks.
