what do you make for your kids school lunches?

We have the funtainer thermos and it works fairly well. I pack it at 7 and the kids eat lunch at 11:20 and 11:40 and they said the food is still warm. I bought the cheapo $3 knock-off at WM-a total waste of $. They didn't work at all.

thank ladies keep the suggestions coming I want to try some new foods with her before school starts. She is 5years old and just bairly weighs in at 30pounds so I really don`t want her to not eat kwim. She is kinda different also in the sence that she isn`t really into junk foods she is picky about everything if given the choice she will pick fruit over candy or chips which i am very happy about but still we just need to make sure we are getting food in her I am so worried about school and eatting around here if they don`t eat there lunch in school they can loose there break time ( they have to by law have a min of 10min but the other time can get taken away) I don`t want that to happen as I`m afraid that will just drive her further from eatting if people are making a big deal about it kwim.

is anyone afraid that your child will get to school with their cold lunch and then see the kids with hot lunch and wish they could have the hot lunch instead? i was such a shy, nervous kid and hated school because i was so sensitive and im so scared this might be a problem for my new kindergardner.

My child, on the first day of summer school (program for pre-K kids), ate her cold lunch and then decided that the school lunch looked good and ate that too!

Does your school print a menu for the month or give the kids choices at each meal? At our school, we receive a menu at the beginning of each month, so the parents can decide when to send lunch. They also have the choice of taking cheese and crackers instead of the main menu item. We have never purchased lunch b/c we have to buy it for the whole month and it's $42 x 2 kids-too much money.

Anything can be a bento box!! When I started making them, I used the Tupperware/Rubbermaid containers I already had.

I love the looks of our bento/lunch system I`m planning to start using it a few weeks before school starts to make sure she can open everything ok
