I am wanting a cast iron griddle for pancakes especially. I imagine that it would stretch across 2 burners on the stove. I am just wondering if you have any issues with even heat distribution? I am looking at one like this....

I have one just like that. I love it! I use it for pancakes as well as grilled meats and veggies. As far as heat distribution, just make sure you let it heat up enough. The heat distributes really well, it just takes a few minutes. I can always tell when I put my pancakes on too soon. The only pans I use are cast iron. I cleans really easy if you wash it off while still hot. If you are looking for other cast iron pans as well, camping world has a really great deal on a set that includes the griddle.

It said pre-seasoned but do not believe that. It was not, it needed a good seasoning before I used. it. The entire surface heats well and I know when to put pancakes on it when a small splash of water dances on it. It cleans well too. I love kabobs on the grill side. I'm super glad I picked it up (for cheaper than list price.) I keep it on my stove at all times and use it abuot 3-4 times a week. I love it.

I have been using my Lodge 2 burner griddle/grill pan for a few years now.

I find the middle section does not get as hot (on my electric range anyway...still experimenting w/ gas range in our new house). However, it makes a perfect "warming" area to keep pancakes, etc. warm after they are cooked. So I cook primarily over the burners, and then as the pancakes are done I move them toward the middle.

We have one (I don't know if they sell it or not anymore) that is reversible and works wonderfully! We've had it for 9 years now and it's still going strong!

Thanks for all the replies mamas! I am on a quest to find a reasonably priced griddle now. I went to one store (Canadian) and a Lodge griddle was $120!! Unbelievable! Cast iron is really difficult to find here and anything you do find it super expensive!! Looks like I will be making a trip across the border next month.
