Do you do any sort of wash "maintenance" on your dipes?

The occasional strip, soak, RLR, bleach, etc., just because to keep problems away...not because you ARE having problems? Something above and beyond your normal wash routine? Does that make any sense at all?

I boil my prefolds with a touch of Dawn about once a month to strip them. I prefer the "better safe than sorry" routine.

Pretty much I do a Sanitary wash every single wash and I use bleach pretty regularly too. Basically if my dipes stink coming out of the wash or dryer then I re wash with bleach.

Re: Do you do any sort of wash "maintenance" on your dipes?

Once a month I'll do a sanitary wash with Tide and add mouthwash to the bleach dispenser. After that's finished I'll do a quick wash with an extra rinse and no detergent, jsut Ecover.

Except for that, all other diaper loads are a regular hot/cold wash with the full amount of Tide and Ecover and an extra rinse. Nothing extra.

I've only been doing this for 4 months but we haven't had any stink issues at all. After our monthly "maintenance" the diapers do seem quite a bit fresher.

Mouthwash? Really? I've never heard of that before! Like Listerine?

Yeah, it's been mentioned here a few times. It really does freshen things up. I use as much as the bleach cup will allow and it's worked great. I am trying to avoid having to ever use bleach.

I used to soak them every 2 days lol. I decided I'm going to start stripping them at least once a month now since we had our first stink issues the other day and it was horrific.

I do a hot soak for a few hours in Rockin' Green for the hemp doublers I use at night about once a month to keep the hemp stinkies away.
I also occasionally throw a bit of oxygen bleach in the hot wash to disinfect the dipes.
