Favorite Veg*n/Meat-Free/Dairy-Free foods?

What are some of your favorite veg*n, meat-free and dairy-free foods?

Honey and egg whites (but not yolks) are fine - just no animal products other than egg whites.
I'm also looking for low-soy (but not necessarily no-soy.)
Things I will not eat: beets and papaya.

High-iron and vitamin d foods would be great, as well. How are you sure to get your necessary protein? B-12?

Favorite recipes? Great blogs?

Yesterday, non-dairy milks were on sale so I bought pretty much one of everything: Soy, hemp, oat, hazelnut, almond, rice and coconut. I got them all in "original" except the hazelnut which is chocolate (because it sounded like liquid Nutella to me ). Hemp, oat and hazelnut are Pacific brand. the almond is Blue Diamond, soy and rice are WF house brand and coconut is So Delicious. Am I missing a great one?

(I've lived with veg*ns before and have eaten a lot of veg*n foods. I already know of some great stuff but I'm looking for more ideas.)

IMO, the refrigerated milks are tastier than the shelf-stable milks. My favorite is the Silk refrigerated almond milk. The So Delicious refrigerated coconut milk has the texture and color, but not the flavor, of "real" milk. My favorite chocolate, though, is Rice Dream shelf-stable. Have fun taste-testing!

I would suggest getting the Skinny B*t@h in the Kitch cookbook or the Kynd Diet book that has a cookbook in it as well. Both are veg friendly.

I love the shelf stable ones, the refrigerated ones feel heavier to my taste. We only buy the unsweetened unless I can't find it. Though I love pearl soy milk. That hazelnut one sounds so yummy! I have to start going dairy free, because it's been causing me headaches so I need help too lol. My favorite sites are http://vegweb.com http://www.theppk.com & http://vegandad.blogspot.com my new favorite one is http://justthefood.blogspot.com they have this hot dog recipe on there that is awesome!

I've got several great veg cookbooks - including an encyclopedic style one that keeps turning out to be my go-to. TBH, the "Skinny B" cookbook turns me off for socio-political reasons. I will take a look at the Kynd Diet stuff, though. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is part of why I picked up one of everything - it seems that different things work out better for different people. I'll keep the Rice Dream chocolate in mind, though, if I don't over the hazelnut one.

I'm not sure I'm ready to make the jump to unsweetened just yet. That'll have to be a "next step." (Which it probably should be, I don't need loads of added sugars.) Thanks for the blog links! I'll add 'em to my RSS feed reader. I'm not super-thrilled about going veg/dairy-free but it's better than never sorting my health out.

I hated soy milk for years when I first went veg. Eventually my taste buds finally got used to it lol. I drank the sweeter ones though when I was getting used to them. Now I don't care for them. Like to me rice milk is way too sweet. Going veggie wasn't too hard for me, but now going off dairy is really hard. I love my ice cream lol.
