Ettiquite Question? Help!

So tomorrow I am supposed to go shopping with MIL. She offered to take me shopping for baby clothes for my beast. She loves to go shopping for baby clothes but wanted me along so I could pick out "what we need for him".

My question is, what do I get for clothes? How much do *I* spend with *her* money? We really need a lot of clothes for him right now because he doesnt really fit in the 12 month stuff anymore and its sumer time (though you wouldnt know that by the 45 degree rain we have going on right now). When do I stop myself from spending her money? I could shop ALL day long and still spend more....help?

Depends on how giving or how much is alot to your mom.

i personally like at least 2 shirts for every pair of shorts. My monster is always getting shirts dirty LOL

I would say a weeks worth?

You can get good deals at target

Have a great time shopping

I second Target. You can usually get a lot for the $$. I also like Old Navy for kids' clothing.
My mom has taken us shopping many times, and I usually leave it up to her as to how much we get. Or, I will come right out and ask her, 'how much do you want to spend today'? because like you, I could shop all day.

I would try and read her cues. If she says she is getting tired after 3 outfits, stop putting things in the cart. If she tells you to go find more things or asks you which store you guys should go to next, keep shopping.
Have fun!

I am like this with my own mom, I hate spending her money so I always just get a few things and then stop. Sorry I don't have any advice, but I can completely relate

ITA! My MIL likes to buy our kids' BTS clothes and school supplies and I *still* feel wierd putting things in the cart. She'll keep asking if I'm sure we don't need anything else, and even if we do, after a while, I just tell her we are fine. I don't want to seem greedy!

Re: Ettiquite Question? Help!

My MIL is super generous too. My parents aren't the spoiling type, so it made me uneasy for a long time. Now I realize that it makes her happy to do things for us. I'd just ask her how many outfits she thinks he'll need for the summer....you need input from an experienced mama sometimes, yk.

I would just be blunt before you get started and say something like, "You're going to need to give me a price limit that you have in mind because we do need clothes, but I don't want to over-do it." Have fun!!
