It has LONG been the norm, industry-wide (say late 80's early 90's), to NOT pay this procedure separately because the cost is presumed to be part of the overall payment for a delivery.

So if an insurance company pays $2500 for a vaginal delivery, the doc gets $2500 whether the circ is done or not.

This one is a myth....
You are very misinformed. When my son was born the circ was not at all part of the birthing procedure. So much was it separate that it would have been done at my ob office as a separate appointment and I would have had to pay $250 out of pocket to my ob.

This is the definition of the word intact: not altered, broken, or impaired; remaining uninjured, sound, or whole; untouched; unblemished

Clearly a circ'd penis is NOT intact.

Reference links would still be helpful if anybody has them?!?
I recommend sitting down with your husband and watching a video of a circ being performed..... its horrific.

JackandSamsmom- that is too funny. I never got that reasoning either. My DH and my boys look very different. I guess I should dye their hair and tint their skin and inject collagen in their lips too so they match. I mean, at least that stuff is visible to the public unlike a penis.

Same here. I don't have a son yet and thank goodness I had a girl (I wanted DD to be a boy so badly) because I was misinformed & pro circ when I gave birth to her. I'm so glad someone mentioned it on here & sparked my curiosity. Now I'm very against it and trying so hard to persuade my DH.

Hopefully those attitudes spread more and more!

Here's some fun blinkies and banners to show that we support leaving our sons intact

My DH's first argument was to look like him. I asked if he remembered what HIS dad's penis looked like. Of course not! He was pretty quick to get on board with leaving our son intact, thank goodness.

I'm not sure where they get the car crash number from, but it's WAY more than 8 a year From the CDC site,

Quote:
n the United States during 2005, 1,335 children ages 14 years and younger died as occupants in motor vehicle crashes, and approximately 184,000 were injured. Thatís an average of 4 deaths and 504 injuries each day.2
