Best apples for apple pie?

Granny smiths are great, and the go-to for apple pie. But I like to add a little sweeter apple to my pie. I usually do 2/3 granny smith and 1/3 macintosh.

I like granny smith and macintosh too. I like either seperate or both together. Yum! Now I want an apple... or better yet, a slice of pie and some ice cream.

My grandma swore by granny smith. But I personally don't like the tartness in the pie, so I buy Honeycrisp. They are just as firm, but without the tart flavor.

IDK but our local orchard has a website that has info like this. They tell you what apples are best for what. I love it! Maybe your local orchard could help you out too! I love apple pie but havent made one since I was a kid helping my mom and that was many a moon ago so I wouldn't even know where to start!
