Baby name help - Biblical names
We have named all of our children names from the Bible. And I have a very good book of names that lists every name from the Bible, male and female, and their meanings. My problem is that I just don't love any of the names for our newest girl.
So I am looking at naming our daughter a name that is a female version of a male Biblical name (ie. Michaela, Josephine, Joy, Joelle, Emanuela, Augusta, etc) or a Biblical concept that can be used as a name (ie. Hope, Faith, Glory, Jubilee, Evangeline, etc). Any great ideas? I love looking up name meanings so the more options you come up with the happier I will be. ![]() One more thing - if you know a name in any language that means "gift" or "glory" then please let me know. Thanks. TIA For what it's worth, our last name is very long and foreign...so we have never been concerned with blending the first, middle and last names.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names
I LOVE Hosanna for a girl!!!! I also love Evangaline, but you listed that already.
DH doesn't like either so if this one is indeed a girl like we think, she will be named Rebekah.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names
There is an awesome baby name site that lets you search by meaning. Here is a link to my search for girl names that mean gift: http://tiny.cc/e2ntl and my search for girl names that mean glory: http://tiny.cc/kz6j1xb68u
Anyhow, I grew up in a small town where the pastor of the church named all the children who were born in that church (it was kind of cult-like, but that is beside the point). All the names were Biblical although some were more obscure than others. Some of the girls I knew: Mishael (pronounced mi-shay-el but she always went by Mishi), Hannah, Jerioth (she went by Jeri), Keturah, Phoebe, Jahdiel, Abigail. I'm trying to remember some others.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names
Hadassah is my favorite girl biblical name, my DH says no though. While looking through some other posts I have seen people thinking of using Ezra for a girl!

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names
Our DD is Veronica. I didn't love it but it has grown on me and she fits her name perfectly.

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names
We like uncommon Biblical names as well. Our newest addition is Moriah (which is the mountain Abraham took Isaac to to be sacrificed). Other names we considered: Shiloh, Eden, Karis (greek for Grace), Genesis (Jenna for short). Hope these help!

Re: Baby name help - Biblical names
Thank you for all of your input. Keep 'em coming!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE and have on my "list": Selah (but I think I would pronounce it "SAY-lah") Abigail Shiloh But my list is much longer than DH's list. *sigh* We'll get there one day! And the list only really has to have one name on it, right!?
