Cool. I never thought about Selah being pronounced "Say-lah". I really like it now! My boys all have biblical names and finding a good, yet uncommon girl biblical name is hard.

Contrary to popular belief, this name does not mean "Who like God" and is not a form of Michael. They are completely separate names. Michal means 'brook, stream' and may also mean 'perfect'

Michal (Hebrew: מיכל‎) was a daughter of Saul, king of Israel, who loved and became the wife of David, (1 Samuel 18:20-27) who later became king of Judah, and later still of the united Kingdom of Israel.

I knew a child named Blessing. It actually worked really well, and he was the sweetest little thing. Could go for a boy or a girl, IMO.

My name is "Mara", it's from the book of Ruth. (Pronounced mahr-a) It means a few different things in different languages; Greek "eternally beautiful", Hebrew "bitter like tears". Not exactly "gift". "Matthew" means "gift of God", so maybe a girly variation of that would be nice! I do like "Selah Joy" as a name, too!

I know two people (one girl, one woman) named Blessing and they both are. I like that name.

my first two are Abbigail Dawn and Isaac Matthew. hubby's family has a bible name history, so we are kinda sticking to that. that and i love classic bible names anyway. i love the name Ruth, but hubby doesn't. seriously love it though.

told him the Eliana name that was mentioned earlier and he really liked that. maybe i'll get my Ruth as a middle name. and get to call her that since "Ellie" is such a common nickname/real name now.

my husband is David, and i don't see alot of little ones with that name anymore. but when we were kids, holy cow was it popular!!!

"Makana" means gift in Hawaiian... It's usually a boy's name but it might be cute for a girl where no one knows it's usually a boy's name. And you could call her "Ana."
