Is this normal?

My dd is efb and 3 weeks old. For 3 days she's been nursing a ton...but super fussy. I nurse on demand. I was thinking - growth spurt, but she's been spitting up a lot and screaming about it. She seems like she is in pain and nursing for comfort much of the time.

I'm getting pretty worn out and she's right there with me.

So anyone have any advise?

We've got:
spit up
constant nursing for hours at a stretch
milk and spit up out of nose
lots of burps
hiccups after a heavy feeding

Re: Is this normal?

Sounds EXACTLY like my DS!!! It was a very hard first 6 weeks. I found at 3 weeks, he had a growth spurt and by the time my milk caught up, he was fine. He had lots of hiccups that we really couldn't get rid of...

I did have a strong let down, and it took months to regulate my milk, but it did come around.

The only thing that worked for ME (not him) was to get help. Have someone hold him for an hour while I showered and napped. I never did figure out how to help him. He's grown out of most of it now, though at almost 10m, he still wakes every 3 hours at night to nurse...
