Re: Does anyone use borax in their diaper washing?

Yes, I have used borax for years!!! I originally used them with diapers because my mother told me how to wash my cloth dipes and that is what she always used, but I found it also helps with stinky socks, towels, and helps keep white clothing white without the harshness of bleach, and it does not make colors fade. I generally use 1/2 cup for a full load.

I use it with hard water to get the hard water deposits that make our dipes stinky out - I don't think you would need it for soft water

I started to use it. To help the stinkies and it works. I have hard water and use 1/2 cup in the presoak cycle and soak them for about an hour in warm, then add 1/2 cup to the wash along with Allen's detergent. I beleive I just followed the directions on box? I like it!

I have hard water too and a front loader. DO you use it with every wash? or just when they are getting stinky? My hemp is getting stinky when soaked over night and I am worried I will use to much Borax. Can you use to much? You add it with your normal det. right or can you use it by itself?

I use it every time I wash. I think it's more like a booster. So I use in addition with my detergent. I read somewhere you are not suppose to soak it overnight..but I can't remember if that was referring to puls or what? I only soak it for an hour. I would make sure you rinse the stinky ones really well after you wash them.

Sorry, I don't soak the hemp I meant that after using the hemp for night time it stinks. So maybe I should try a soak for the stinkies. I may need to up the amount of borax too. Do you use the same amount of borax as det. 1 to 1 ratio.

I only use 1/2 cup to soak them. Then I add another 1/2 cup to the wash along with 1 oz of Allens detergent.
