Ambleside Help!!! Year one
Hi,
I'm in the process of switching over to amblside year one. I've got the book list and I'm checking all my prices getting ready to buy books . I have a question about the content though... how do I give my child a this kind of education while making sure we meet the requiremnets for homschooling in our state? Will he be able to pass the testing the state will do in third grade? How are other moms making sure that their children get a classical education as well as a more "modern" one for the sake of testing?I hope I am making sense, I'm still trying to figure this all out ![]() Nichole~

Re: Ambleside Help!!! Year one
I guess the only way to really answer that is to know what is actually on the test. I live in a state that doesn't require testing and that is the way it should be everywhere. Is there any one that can tell you what will be covered on the test? Like what is expected of them for math, history, etc. Not the exact questions.

Re: Ambleside Help!!! Year one
Maybe your school board will have a scope and sequence? If not, maybe they will be able to tell you who to call.

Re: Ambleside Help!!! Year one
My state tests grades 3-9 on reading and math using the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills. During the school year, I didn't worry at all about whether she would "pass" the test or not and taught her how I felt she should be learning. However, I did buy a sample ITBS from Rainbow Resource and my daughter practiced on it, just to make sure she knew how to take tests (we didn't do tests in homeschool.) She did just fine.
