Finding a tech?
I want to get my car seats checked by a tech. Any idea on how to find one? TIA
![]() I found a class at the hospital but it costs money. Do you usually have to pay for a car seat check? |

Re: Finding a tech?
in many town there is a police or fire person who is certified. You can contact them and see if they make appointments or if they have set days. If your town doesn't check the larger towns around you.

Re: Finding a tech?
Here's a link to where you can put in your info and find a Certified CPST in your area.

Re: Finding a tech?
You can also check this thread on car-seat.org to find a tech from that board. Techs there tend to be more passionate about child passenger safety, which often translates into a better check experience! There are several listed in WA, although I don't know the geography of the state well enough to know if there is anyone close to you. Even if the closest one is a little distance away, go ahead and contact them; many are willing to travel & meet you halfway if that's a reasonable distance.

It was late when I posted (that's my excuse anyway). I agree with jjordan that that would be my first place to look as, she's right, those on the list are more passionate and you can guarantee you'll have someone who really knows their stuff.

Re: Finding a tech?
I'm in the north part of the county. But yeah, you can call Kristen too, she's great. They have checks at the fire station on a regular basis. PM me if you want her info or mine.
ETA: No they don't generally cost anything, at least none that I've been to. You can give a donation if you want.
