Which one?

I have a family member who wants to get my son a convertible car seat for Christmas. She wants to get him the Britax Boulevard. My husband is more partial to the Safety 1st Complete Air 65. I drive a normal-sized new Volvo sedan, so not sure if either of these car seats is known for a tight fit in sedans. My son is 16lbs at 10 months (preemie) so I'm thinking that just because the Air 65 has a higher rear facing weight limit, that really might not mean anything for us. The cost doesn't matter. So I would love some recommendations on which choice we should make. Thanks!

What seat is he in now, how much room is above his head, and how do you like the seat overall?

If you go with Britax, I would recommend the new models. RF to 40lbs and FF to 70, vs 35 and 65 before. I've actually never played with a new model in person but the general consensus is they are pretty awesome. We've tried many different seats and always go back to Britax in the end.

You should go to BRU or another baby store that allows it and try the seats in your car to check fit. That will help you narrow your list down and prevent you from having to return a seat because it is too big.

Yeah, I'd go to Babies R Us and play with different seats and see which one you like.

I agree with the others, try seats out and see what you like.

And, FYI, the boulevard70 has a 40# rearfacing weight limit, same as the safety 1st complete air. The complete air has a taller shell and therefore might last longer rearfacing by height - but, with a small kid, either one should keep him rearfacing to age 3 at the very least and probably to age 4+.
