Herniated Groin

Anyone have a preemie boy with a hernia in the groin that required surgery? I'm so nervous for my little guy to be put under anesthesia.

Re: Herniated Groin

Inguinal hernias are a very very common condition in preemie boys. One of my 32 week (adjusted) twins currently has hernias on both sides. My large NICU does this surgery 2-4 times per month, often as an outpatient surgery (the babies come in in the am and leave after surgery when they've taken two feeds and urinated). Rarely do the babes even act like they've noticed that they have had surgery and do great both during and after surgery. It is very scary to hand your LO over to have surgery but we gotta' do what we gotta' do .
