Detergent: Powder vs. Liquid

Which do you prefer and why? Also feel free to include whether you have a top loader or front loader and your water type =)

I currently use liquid for our clothes, but i've been seeing that most seem to use powder for their dipes. Just curious on opinions =)

Re: Detergent: Powder vs. Liquid

Normally I prefer liquid, but I'm really liking Rockin Green powder for the dipes. The only problem is, with my FL if I use a powder I can't do a prewash cycle so I have to do a rinse then remember to go back down and start a new cycle.

Re: Detergent: Powder vs. Liquid

Alioop's long laundry thread , which is one of the most helpful things I read on here says that liquids are better for soft water (more surfactant and less softener) and powders are better for hard water (more softener). I do have soft water and use liquids. After reading that thread, or picking through it my laundry is going much much better. But if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm liking the thirsties prewash and superwash, of course it's prob the most expensive soap out there .

I'm not really sure what type of water we have here.

It's not hard, but idk if it's medium or soft. Is there a test I can do? lol.

Re: Detergent: Powder vs. Liquid

I googled and found a us map, I guess that should give you a good idea. I googled for us water hardness or something. Plus I know whenever we travel the water seems hard no matter where we go.

Thanks for posting a link to that thread! I keep seeing people to refer to it, but never knew what the heck it was lol. I bookmarked it to start reading through later
