SAHM's with freezer stores

How much do you have stored in the freezer?
How much 'extra' do you pump a day?
Will you stop pumping extra when you have a certain amount?

I am a SAHM with a 3 month old (and a 2 year old who is weaned). I never was able to put any extra away with my son, but DD sleeps through the night so I pump before I go to bed. I pump a feeding and a half every night after she's asleep. When do I stop storing it away though? Or can I keep pumping and after a certain point start donating (even if it's only like 40 oz a week?)

Once the thrush is gone I am going to stat pumping to work on a stash but only to donate, I will keep maybe 10 oz and donate 100 oz at a time to the local milk bank.

Re: SAHM's with freezer stores

I'm a SAHM and I started pumping at around 6 weeks. I kept this up as much as I could, and it became a necessity at when I was diagnosed with kidney failure when he was 4.5 months old. I started having to pump for tests, and then supplement with the stored milk when my supply plummeted and we both lost weight.

I pumped every morning when I took my thyroid meds, and then would pump between feedings, and at night if he didn't nurse before bed.

Re: SAHM's with freezer stores

How much do you have stored in the freezer?
about 60 bags. each bag is anywhere from 4oz to 7oz filled.

How much 'extra' do you pump a day?
i just pump if i feel a let down and DS is sleeping. i pump before i take a shower so DH can feed DS if he is hungry but most of the time, i end up freezing the whole thing. i will start to pump at 2pm every day when DS gets rid of that mid-afternoon nap "snack".
basically, its different every day. sometimes i pump 1x's a day. sometimes its 3x's a day. it depends on what i ate / drank before the session. but i get anywhere between 3oz combined to 7oz combined per session. small amount, but good enough to store and use later =]

Will you stop pumping extra when you have a certain amount?
not thinking about that yet. i dont need to use the milk for anything as of now. but it might be helpful for something just in case =] i think by the time DS is 10 months old, i might stop?
