boobie bottle help!!!

Hey ladies...

My sweet baby girl is nearing 3 months now, and has never taken a bottle... I have "normal" bottles and also the Adiri "boobie" bottles. When I started a bottle with my son (for our date nights!)- the first time he just screamed thru the whole thing, but at least he drank the bottle--- and then eventually warmed up to it on the nights that I was gone for a few hours...

She screams, doesn't get it and won't drink anything. My SIL was watching her today when I went to lunch w/DH--- I had her try when she was in a good mood, not hungry, hungry... everything... She said she like the Adiri bottle nipple and she would gnaw on it a bit, but it was like the nipple wasn't soft enough (like a real nipple) to suck on... and it LEAKS horribly! I wonder if my son didn't mind because he was a binkie boy too--- and she hates the binkie, but looks like she may eventually be a finger sucker...

ok, enough chatter... Any ideas???

I would try the breastflow bottle, there has been tons of success with breat babies and they are not very expensive.

Re: boobie bottle help!!!

Yeah I'm stumped too.. I was hospitalized for 6 days and DD was taken away at night the first two nights (I had a shared room and couldn't keep her) she refused to eat.. my mother is a LC and tried everything.. eventually she had to syringe feed her and then she only took an ounce! she was down to 4-5 wet diapers a day and pretty much nursed the entire time she was with me. My mom had gone out and bought every type bottle/nipple she could find and no go. I went to a LLL meeting and the leader said that the old school longer nipples sometimes do the trick but my sister tried those with DD too and still no go. DD won't take pacifiers either..

I actually have the ThinkBaby bottles... I don't know if she tried that one... we'll see... and then if not, I'll go check out the breastflow ones!

bottles are such a pain--- but, I really do like going out every once in awhile... ahhhh

thanks ladies!

Re: boobie bottle help!!!

other bottles to consider are: medela's haberman feeder (long nipple and variable flows possible), mimijumi ("very hungry") bottle, and First Years Breastflow. Good luck!

Re: boobie bottle help!!!

The Tommee Tippee is supposed to have a long, soft nipple and wide base to simulate the breast better, and I've heard the slow flow nipples are rather fast.

Re: boobie bottle help!!!

Maybe try the Tommee Tippee ones. They worked well for us.

Re: boobie bottle help!!!

We've done well with the BreastFlow bottles. I have extras I got from a trade here on DS...I'll send you one FFS, you'd just need a stage 1 nipple (don't have extras of those). PM me if you're interested,
