Re: Deer meat recipes.....

We just recentle got a bunch of deer hamburger. We used it in chilli, lasagna and spaghetti. I found that cooking for long periods of time, in a liquid (tomato) really made it tender, and indistinguishable from beef IMO (I was skeptical of the taste but pleasently surprised)

I love venison chili. Just make it like you'd make beef chili.

I was also surprised at how well the meat tasted and you couldn't taste the *gamey* taste everyone talks about. I just use it in place of hamburger, juicy is good since deer doesn't have much fat and tends to be dry.

I always think store bought hamburger is rancid when I cook it because it smells so bad but it's not. I don't smell deer burger/meat when I cook it.

I could use some as well. My husband just started hunting and the guys that he hunts with are always giving us packets of venison. Its always in cubed form like stew meat. My husband is fine with me frying it up but that is getting old.

Re: Deer meat recipes.....

Thanks Ladies!! I finally got it all cut up and in the frezzer!!! I cut it a few different ways, I did 2 bags of cubed meat for stews, I cut a bag of thin strips for jerky, a couple steaks, 2 roast and I ground up like 4 lbs give or take for burgers, chili or other things like that!!

Did I do that right??? Does it sound good?? I think next time I'll have my hubby keep the ribs bc I was reading theyer really good too!!
