Pregnant and pain?

I tried searching the forum, but it's easier starting a new thread. This may be TMI. So here it goes...

DD is 18 months old and loves to nurse. About a month ago I had to start limiting the nursing because I was so tender and sore afterwards. She was nursing whenever she wanted (usually 3-4x day). Now she is only nursing at bedtime, but I find myself not able to do that anymore either. My milk has changed over to colostrum (I know bc I'm leaking). I really want to continue nursing now and the tandem when the baby arrives in May. DS nursed until this point of my last pregnancy (he was 2.5 when he stopped) however I don't remember it being this uncomfortable or painful when he nursed. Is there anything I can do to work through this and continue the nursing relationship or is it doomed? The leaking gets so bad when dd whines and cries for nurses at night that I have started to need to wear pads again. Any BTDT advice or support is appreciated.

Re: Pregnant and pain?

I'm in the same boat - the pain was staggering. I have noticed though, that if I massage myself enough before the latch-on, the pain isn't nearly as bad. Do oyu hurt all of the time, or does it peak when the child clamps on?

It's the latch on plus then afterwards. It's so tender afterwards for like a few days. While she's nursing it's not painful.

I' reading 'Adventures in tandem nursing' right now and it covers this and a lot more. I'll try and reread this part and repost later.
