Diaper Swappers

So DS is 2 1/2 wks old and feeding really well. He was born 8lb 6oz, left the hospital at 8lb 0oz and at his 2 wk check up he was 9lb 4oz. So I know that he is eating well but for the past week or so on my left breast right by my arm pit is very sore to the touch (all the time)and when he hasn't ate for 3 hours or so there is a little knot where the tender spot is. But my right side is just fine. Is this normal or should I make an Appt to talk to my Dr about it?

I would be worried about mastitis. Have you tried massaging the area during a feeding? If it doesn't loosen with massage I would make an appt mastitis can really knock you on your butt.

Pumping will help if it is just a plugged duct.

Sounds like either a plugged duct or mastitis. Check out kellymom.com and see if one on or the other fits your symptoms better and the possible fixes.

Could be a clogged duct. Try taking a really warm shower or a warm compress before feeding to loosen the spot.
