Re: noob question--one "system" or multiple types of diapers

I currently only have prefolds and a few flats, I have decided I love flats more than I love my prefolds, so I think I am going to switch over to just flats after I get more. They are quick to dry.

I prefer mostly pockets, but have a couple different brands. Plus I have some fitteds to wear with cute woolies because I like woolies.

I don't really stick to any one system.

Re: noob question--one "system" or multiple types of diapers

I've only been CDing for a little over a week but my NB stash is all different types and brands of diapers. I feel like I have too many options though and just grab something in the drawer at each change. I need to pick the ones that work the best and get rid of everything else. I think I'd like to have maybe just two types - day time and sleepy time diapers.

Re: noob question--one "system" or multiple types of diapers

With my first child I had pretty much all one type. I had 18 BG 3.0 and 6 prefolds that I never really used. It worked well and I didn't really have a need for any variety. Now for my DD, I have a LOT more variety and I think it works better. There are days that the BG are great but mostly we were using cotton and wool. Then she developed a sensitivity to cotton so we now do bamboo flats under wool. I'm glad I had the variety to adjust for different situations.

Re: noob question--one "system" or multiple types of diapers

We have different types and it works really well for us. When I'm home I love our GMD flats but for out and about I prefer fitteds. We have a few pockets for when my parents watch our DS. I would be weary of all one diaper just because babies change so much both in shape and how much absorbency they need.

Re: noob question--one "system" or multiple types of diapers

I have tried doing both and I do best with about 2 types maybe 3 tops. More than that and it is a pain to store and put away, less than that we find that we are lacking diapers for a specific need. I adore prefolds or flats and I will always have some of them, and I am planning a main stash of AI2s (softbums) plus some fitteds for night/air time (sbish, sugar plum baby). I love the idea of a super simple stash of JUST prefolds or flats but I have heavy wetters and a really busy life- it ends up making me stress!
