And the MIDWIFE at the military hospital ignored all my wishes, did things against my will and without asking me, and insisted that after laboring for a few hours, I either have a c/s or get pitocin... we "negotiatied" and broke my water... but sheesh. OP - I feel for you mama. I really REALLY hope you are holding your sweet dear baby in your arms right now after a beautiful birth that left you feeling empowered and overjoyed. Update when you can.

Re: Dr's want to induce! HELP!
I'm not familiar with military hospitals, but at least with civilian hospitals, drs and hospitals are going to push as much drugs on a woman as possible. A natural drugfree birth doesn't make anybody any money. I've got a girlfriend who was bullied into induction as well, and it is asinine! Also, why does everybody start getting excited around 36 weeks? Normal gestation can last up to 42 weeks or so, six weeks LATER than when drs begin to push for induction. That's a lot of time for a baby to grow and develop!
As for drs wanting to put their hands on you without your permission (stripping the membranes and what not), that is rape. They should be reported. TRUST YOUR BODY. The more stories I hear, the more I have ZERO trust in the medical field and the more trust I have in myself, and the more I am reaffirmed that choosing to birth at home without drugs was the right thing to do. And remember, if you are induced, that is a higher chance you will need further drugs put in your body, you'll be stuck on your back (often "distressing" not only your body, but also your baby's), and the likelihood of c-section DRASTICALLY increases. In my opinion, you are protecting your child when you choose NOT to be bullied by those drs. I wish you the best! ![]() |

Re: Dr's want to induce! HELP!
Can't you just say no? It's not like they are going to drive to your house and force you to go to the hospital to be induced.
