Can I do this with meat-a question about freezing.

We had my DS birthday party yesterday. Alot of people called and cancelled because of illness. So I have 2lbs of ground turkey that was frozen and I defrosted. My question is if cook up the ground turkey can I freeze it? I know you cannot refreeze meat once you defrost it, but I am not sure on if you cook it can you refreeze it....Hope I am making sense!

I think you could re-freeze it, so long as it hasn't been sitting in the refrigerator for a bunch of days already... :-) Pretty sure my mom used to do that pretty often so that dinner prep took less time.

I took it out of the freezer and put it into the refrigerator to defrost on friday.

I would cook it into something and refreeze it. I actually do that a lot!

Yes you can cook it up and refreeze it as long and it is normal color and smell.

The rule is that you have to change it's form.....ie cook it to be able to refreeze it. Once you defrost uncooked meat you can not refreeze unless you cook it. Once you defrost cooked turkey...you cannot refreeze it again.
