Re: Glucose Tolerance Test

I've had the one-hour and 3-hour tests SO many times since high school as my sugar levels have always been "borderline". I'm with BV...definitely the least offensive is the lemon-lime!

Re: Glucose Tolerance Test

My orange treat is staring me in the face everytime I open my fridge. I keep reminding myself that this is very likely the last pregnancy so I need to savor all of it, even the bad so I look at it and think "yummy fanta!". Really I'll just down it as fast as I can and spend the rest of the day feeling horrible! Fingers crossed for good numbers though!

Re: Glucose Tolerance Test

Do you guys have to fast? My doctor said I didn't, and I thought that was strange. Not that I'm complaining, though!

I think fasting is if you're doing the 3-hour GTT, which is usually only done if you fail the 1-hour test. Unless you live in Canada. One of my friend's there that's due two weeks before me with her second said that the 3-hour test became standard for them. The 1-hour I don't believe you have to fast but I could be wrong! That's just what I remember hearing at some point.

Re: Glucose Tolerance Test

I am being bad and putting mine off. The doctors office gave me a bottle to take home (is that weird?? I thought it was) and to drink it and come back for a blood draw whenever I wanted. I think I am going to "forget" to do it and see if they notice. =X I know I don't have GD. I got the orange though, I had it last time and I thought it wasn't terrible.

I have my test in about 3 weeks at 28 1/2 weeks. My OB told me last week that I'd have to fast for just 2 hrs before drinking the drink. Than wait an hr before having the blood test. I guess I get checked for Anemia too.

Re: Glucose Tolerance Test

I didn't mind the orange... but I was glad I passed so I didn't have to drink it twice.
