Re: Rough day - Did I do the right thing?

Sounds like you did the right thing. If they aren't listening to you and accomodating you now, then how is birth day gonna go over? Aye yi yi.

FWIW - we have a hossy 10 min up the road (where I delivered DS) but we are opting to drive 45 min to our prefered hosp and practitioner. You gotta do what feels right! Hope DH gets on board, too.

I totally would've changed. If they're not taking your health concerns seriously, you need to be elsewhere.

Good for you for standing up for yourself and your baby.

You absolutely did the right thing! My OB is right next to the hospital, but there is tons of parking and the office is close. I feel bad for women with crappy doctors because mine is so wonderful. Hugs, mama! Your older kiddos sound awesome!

Glad your day got better. I still haven't seen an ob! Our practice doesn't usually switch you until 36 weeks! Crazy, I think! I have my first ob apt Thursday, at 34 1/2 weeks. They got me in "early" lol. I definitely would have switched too, if I were you.

I think you did the absolute right thing. You know what shocks me? That they didn't offer to send someone out WITH the wheel chair TO your car and wheel you in. I know my OB office would have done that.

You did the right thing. No doubt in my mind. I know how it is though. I often wondered if I was preggo overreacting or not. Nope. Not this time! Good for you!

My midwife, is IN the hospital, tons of parking, a little drive up thingy so you can be dropped of then DH (or whoever) can get right into the parking garage. Their offices are like, 10 feet to the right, and the maternity ward is 10 feet to the left (up 4 floors ) Could NOT be any easier! I have only had to wait once or twice during both of my pregnancies, it's always in and out. I had an 8w U/S at the drop of a hat because I felt like it.

Thats what it should be like keep looking till you find a good one!

YES! That is what is should be like! My OB practice is so awesome. I had a scare at 8wks and I had an u/s an hour later. I needed an hour to drink some water. I am never rushed, parking is easy and the whole staff is fantastic. I am done after this, but it's a bit bittersweet that I won't need them again.

Re: Rough day - Did I do the right thing?

Thanks everyone!

I have an appointment today at the new clinic I will be seeing. Honestly I have no concerns because my blood work is followed by my specialist and GP (due to thyroid disease). If I didn't "need" to be attached to a Dr for pregnancy I wouldn't even bother - I'd just see my GP until I went into labour. It isn't like the Dr's here actually do anything anyway - it's the nurses who you can't choose who do all the work UNTIL you are pushing and the Dr comes in to "catch". Two of my labours my Dr was away and I had a total stranger "catching" anyway so what is the whole point of making me go to a special clinic???

Of course I can say this all because I have a great support team. My mom is a certified doula. She attended all of our births anyway so I sent her to doula training with my last baby. AND this is my fourth pregnancy so it's a bit of "been there, done that."

ETA- PP, YES my boys are AMAZING. I often forget just how good they really are, we have high expectations of them but also try to reward them very often for meeting those expectations.
